TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A crash left a truck overturned on the S.R. 641 bypass in Terre Haute Thursday morning.
The crash occurred during the 8 a.m. hour and caused traffic in both southbound lanes to be shut down for a time as crews worked to clean up the scene.
Indiana State Police, the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, and Honey Creek Fire Department responded to the scene.
Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames said the crash occurred because the driver of the truck fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle.
The driver was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of what were described as minor injuries.
Sgt. Ames reminds all drivers to be awake and alert while driving. Ames said drivers who feel sleepy should be responsible and pull over to a safe place to rest before continuing to operate a motor vehicle.
