VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local FedEx employee has been arrested and charged with stealing more than 100 cell phones valued at nearly $75,000.
That’s according to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, who said detectives arrested Paul A. Deatrick, 40, on May 23.
Sheriff’s Chief of Operations Derek Fell said detectives launched an investigation into multiple thefts occurring from the FedEx Ground location at 5300 Margaret Drive where Deatrick was employed.
After determining Deatrick was a suspect, detectives searched the mans home and reported locating more than 100 cell phones believed to be stolen from the facility. Detectives valued the stolen property at nearly $75,000.
Court records show that Deatrick was released on his own recognizance by a Vigo County Judge and is due back in court on May 30 at 1:30 p.m. for an Initial Hearing in the case.
