TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Hundreds were drawn to Fairbanks Park in Terre Haute for a yearly summer tradition.
Year 51 of the Banks of the Wabash Festival began with “Family Bargain Night”, where all rides took just one ticket. The gates opened at 6 p.m. and the rides filled up quickly.
There were various types of rides and games. Some were slow, but others were fast and led to joyous screams by the riders. Luehrs’ Ideal Rides general manager Andrew Schoendienst says that traditions like this do so much for the city.
“I think it’s a great way for the city of Terre Haute to show off this beautiful park at Fairbanks Park and all of the parks here in the city,” he said. “Just really kick off summer for all of the families and get everybody together.”
The festival will continue until June 1 and will include more promotions and live music. More information can be found on their Facebook page.
