TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Sunday night, firefighters battled a large apartment fire at Cobblestone Crossings in Terre Haute.
Honey Creek Fire Department chief Tom High said that there were no injuries reported and that the fire has been ruled accidental. He said that their crew along with Terre Haute Fire Department, Sugar Creek, and Riley Fire Department had the fire in control in about an hour.
“Those tactics were implemented very quickly, we were then able to, with the proper training and dedication of the crews, we were able to get it knocked back down before it extended into any of the other units exposure wise,” said High.
The victims involved were relocated by the Red Cross. High said that this situation could have been a lot worse.
“We didn’t have any live rescues going on and with the total destruction of the one complex unit, it was a sigh of relief that we had no other injuries, firefighting or civilian wise,” he said.
High said that he couldn’t be prouder of how the situation was handled by all the firefighters involved.
