CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The body of a 19-year-old Terre Haute man was recovered by DNR officials from a Clay County lake.
According to a release from the Department of Natural Resources, conservation officers were sent to the Chinook Fish & Wildlife Area at 9:47 p.m. Sunday for a report of a person going under the water and not resurfacing.
A search using sonar technology reportedly found the body of Micah T. Harrison in an area that is approximately 14 feet deep.
The Clay County Coroner pronounced Harrison deceased at the scene. The cause of death has not yet been determined, pending autopsy results.
DNR officials advise the public that swimming in DNR properties is only permitted in designated swimming areas.
DNR thanked the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Posey Fire, and Medic 9 Star Ambulance for assistance at the scene.
