TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Vigo County Parks and Recreation Department has started the process of planning the next 5-year Master Plan.
The meeting consisted of an open discussion with the public. Officials want input on the park’s successes over the last 5 years, along with what they would like to see the next 5 years.
So far they have received over 200 surveys. Some of the results include, the need for more trails , special events, and additional programming efforts.
In past plans, they had made changes by looking into the parks infrastructure. They have added things like new electric panels at campgrounds, new waterlines, and new kayak launches.
Superintendent of Vigo County Parks Adam Grossman said they need more input from the public.
“They’re the ones coming to use it. They’re the ones that we’re catering to. We wanna know what do you want to see done in the next 5 years and what we need to do to meet you there,” he said.
Survey can be done online or at the meetings. A rough draft of the plan will be made in November, and the final draft will be put into place by early next year. The next public meeting will be held on June 27th at 6:00 p.m. at the Vigo County Annex.
