DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: Monday morning, officials with Daviess County Rural Water have confirmed that the boil order remains in effect.
Officials said they are awaiting test results for the water to determine when the boil order can end.
Original: A portion of customers of Daviess County Rural Water are being asked to boil water before use.
According to the utility, customers along State Road 58 and those north of the roadway are affected. The reason for the boil order is that there is maintenance being performed on a water main.
Officials list the order as precautionary.

The CDC’s guidance for how to properly boil water during these situations is as follows:
- Fill a pot with water.
- Heat the water until bubbles come from the bottom of the pot to the top.
- Once the water reaches a rolling boil, let it boil for 1 minute.
- Turn off the heat source and let the water cool.
- Pour the water into a clean container with a cover for storage.
