PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Mansfield Mushroom Festival returned for the 35th consecutive year.
With it came plenty of action, fresh food including a bacon-wrapped corn dog, live mushroom auctions, and much more. However, it also gave opportunity to small business owners like Amy Rednour of A Fungus Amoung Us.
“Oh it’s fantastic,” she said. “It’s one way for us to get the information about mushrooms out there, let them know that there are other edible mushrooms out there besides morel mushrooms.”
Despite mushrooms being the main attraction, people could also tour the Historic Mansfield Mill. Those tours were being led by historian Ross Plotkin, but even he stays entertained by the other festivities around him.
“It’s always fun to listen to the auction and hear just how much the mushrooms will go for and always try and figure out what time of day is best for that,” he said. “I’ve been doing this for 10 years and I still don’t know.”
If you missed out on the action this weekend, the festival will return next week, April 27-28 with a car show and the usual festivities.
