CLARK COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — With mass notification systems gaining popularity as ways to communicate emergencies or other public safety issues, local officials have chosen an emergency notification provider.
According to Clark County, IL E-911, the county has chosen Hyper-Reach as the emergency notification system that will be used to alert residents in the area.
“The new emergency alert system will provide rapid notification of hazardous and urgent situations using a mix of telephone calls, text and email messages, and even TTY/TDD service for the hearing impaired,” the release said.
The county intends to use this service for emergency alerts regarding environmental hazards, weather, missing people, and criminal activity. While landline phones will be automatically enrolled for the community alerts, for other alerts on other devices, people will need to enroll for the service.
“Residents and people who work in Clark County, IL are encouraged to enroll now using a county address either by calling or texting “Alert” to 217-293-2323 or by visiting the Hyper-Reach enrollment website,” the release said.
Residents can download the Hyper-Reach Anywhere app on their smartphones.
