KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A man has been arrested and accused of leading local police on a short pursuit, fleeing on foot, and leaving a woman and child in the vehicle.
According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, on April 17 around 7:30 p.m. deputies in Bicknell, Indiana spotted a driver who had an active warrant. When the deputy attempted to pull the driver over, the sheriff’s office said the driver instead accelerated and sped away from the deputy leading to a pursuit.
The sheriff’s office also noted the driver ran a stop sign and headed out of town, eventually turning off the highway and into a field where the driver fled on foot. The driver, later identified as 35-year-old Phillip Brown by the sheriff’s office, then ran away leaving a woman and child in the vehicle.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Department also reported Brown had been taken into custody and transported to the Knox County Jail.
Brown was booked with the following charges on top of his active warrant:
- Resisting law enforcement | Level 6 felony
- Neglect of a dependent | Level 6 felony
- Driving while suspended with a prior conviction
