TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Locals and tourists gathered to see some Alpacas.
Total Eclipse of the Herd at Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods College allowed for people to come and get close to the animals. The event was hosted by the Sisters of Providence who run the White Violet Center for Economic Justice, and farm projects coordinator Tara Elmore was glad to share them with the community.
“They are here as a part of our message of sustainability,” she said. “They are also a great way for our families to come out and enjoy this beautiful campus and just get to be part of this great event that’s going on and get to spend some time with the animals.”
Elmore noted that they had already seen people from a wide variety of locations visit the farm and the eclipse should see much of the same.
“We have had anywhere from three hours away to just coming in from Indianapolis, and I think people are coming from as far away as Chicago and we are looking forward to having a lot of out-of-town visitors.
The campus also invites people to come out and celebrate Earth Day on April 20th.
