ASHMORE, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — At around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night, the Ashmore Fire Department arrived on the scene of a structure fire.
When crews arrived, there was a vast layer of smoke coming from the building but not a lot of visible flames. Both Hutton and Oakland Fire Departments were called in for assistance with water.
Officials said that within the first 20 minutes, crews were able to contain the fire enough to where they could enter the structure and find hot spots.
Firefighters were on the scene for just over 3 hours and there were no injuries reported.
Captain Jake Johnson of the Ashmore Fire Department said the cause of this fire is still under investigation.
