CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The elected officials in this year’s municipal races in Clay County took their oath of office on Thursday.
Taking the oath of office means that one will give this elected position their all no matter what the circumstance is. It is also a promise to their residents that reside in their community that they are going to try their best to make it as best as they possibly can.
One person that has now taken this oath for the fourth time is Brazil mayor, Brian Wyndham. He wants to say that Clay County could not be in better hands.
“We have good council members here that have been around a while. We work really well together along with other county entities. It is a team effort by everyone,” said Wyndham.
One of the main reasons most people run for these positions is the urge to get things done around their community. They want to be the driving force in making their area the best it can be for all its residents.
This is no different for Clay City town council member, Timothy Rood. He says he loves the feeling of a job well done.
“Some members of the community don’t see it or appreciate these things but overall, majority of them do. It is just satisfying to get a job well done,” said Rood.
No matter what position they got elected to they all want the same thing, to make Clay County the best place it can be.
“We are going to hit the ground running and I’ve been fortunate to have an incredible team of individuals that work up here with me,” added Wyndham.
Elected officials say this ceremony allows them to get to know their peers before they take office on January 1st.
