SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: We’re learning more about how a multi-county pursuit began and the person arrested as a result.
According to Sullivan County Sheriff Jason Bobbitt, the incident began when a deputy attempted a traffic stop on U.S. 41 near C.R. 200 N. After activating emergency lights, the deputy reported that the driver of the Jeep increased his speed in an attempt to flee.
The pursuit continued north into Vigo County where the Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputies got involved as well.
The driver, Robert Conde, was arrested and taken to the Sullivan County Jail on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement and criminal recklessness.

According to a release from the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, Sullivan County law enforcement was in pursuit of a vehicle traveling northbound on U.S. 41 around 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Officers followed the vehicle into Vigo County and assistance was requested.
Vigo County law enforcement responded to the request and helped to deploy spike strips at U.S. 41 and Oregon Church Road. As a result, three of the four tires on the suspect’s vehicle were disabled. The driver continued northbound on U.S. 41 for a short time before turning onto Harlan Drive and coming to a stop in the Industrial Park.
The release states that officials with Sullivan County then took the driver and the vehicle into custody and that the suspect was transported to Sullivan County Jail. There were no injuries reported during the incident.
