VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A two-year program focused on helping business owners in under-served populations is coming to an end, but its outreach will continue.
On Monday, the West Central Indiana Small Business Development Center celebrated the impact of the Intentional Outreach Network. It served over 400 clients over the last two years.
Through this program, the center learned how to better address barriers entrepreneurs may face. It also established several resources that will continue despite the program coming to an end.
“Out of the program, the Black Business Alliance was created. That’s still a thriving group that’s going to continue to grow. We also started an allyship in the workplace, which is a training program for any business that just wants to make sure that they’re providing a safer space for their customers and their employees. That will continue as well. Our rural advisor, which was just a grant-funded position, is actually going to be able to stay on full-time.” Courtney Chipol, Regional Director of the West Central Indiana Small Business Development Center said.
The ISBDC provides advice and resources to anyone wanting to start a business. Chipol also said those resources are provided at no cost.
