ROBINSON, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — An entrance to a local community is getting some improvements thanks to an act of kindness by area businesses.
First Robinson Savings Bank and the Marathon Refinery worked to upgrade Pride Corner. The Robinson mayor says that’s the most highly traveled intersection in Crawford County, and the goal was to give it a more modern look.
The project was part of an initiative called The Best Day Ever, started by a company called Kasasa, which the bank uses for its checking accounts. The bank, the refinery, and the city were happy to work together on this project.
“We believe strongly in reinvesting locally and we invest a lot and as you walk through our facilities, you’ll see the signs, like the one behind me of projects that we’ve been involved in whether it was with dollars or employee commitment, and we have a lot of that going on and we continue to do a lot more of that,” Bill Sandiford with First Robinson Savings Bank said.
50 bank employees, 45 city employees, and 500 marathon employees were involved in the project.
“This is something that everybody sees right when they come into Robinson. We’re proud of Robinson and we want people to know that we are proud and to really have a nice welcome when they get here,” Michelle Dorfmueller, Product Control Manager at Marathon Refinery in Robinson.
Robinson Mayor, Mike Shimer commented on the importance of community involvement.
“We’re very fortunate to have companies like First Robinson Savings Bank and Marathon that want to be involved and continually involved in projects we do in our community,” said Shimer.
