VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Kids of all ages are welcome to come out for Vigo County CASA’s Trunk or Treat next Monday evening.
The theme this year is Your Favorite Halloween Boo and all trunks are to be decorated in the theme of your favorite Halloween character.
The event will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Vigo County annex. Vigo County Casa Director Glenna Cheesman said there will be a variation of different treats including candy, hot dogs, popcorn, and a little bit of something for everyone.
“There’s fun for everyone to come and just enjoy. We’re so thankful for all the community supporters that come out and do the trunks not only are the trucks by the volunteers but they’re community supporters as well. County agencies, county offices, businesses that come and support us by coming to our trunk or treat you’re not only helping and giving a fun safe place to do it but also supporting those businesses that are supporting us and the community agencies that support us as well,” Cheesman said.
Cheesman also said First Street will be closed this year from Oak to Crawford Streets for the event. Attendees can park in Fairbanks Park and walk safely across.
“This is an opportunity for us to personally invite all the children in our program out into the community and have them come without anyone knowing that they’re there. It’s a way for them to come be a kid because the hardest thing that our kids get to experience in their situation is just having an opportunity to be a kid without labels and just be silly and just be in a positive environment,” Cheesman said.
Attendees can also come vote, and the fan favorite trunk will win a one-hundred-dollar gift card, to Walmart.
