VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: State Road 42 has since been reopened to traffic.
One person has been flown to Indianapolis for treatment of injuries following a crash involving an overturned semi truck near the county line.
The crash occurred Monday morning on State Road 42 near the Vigo and Clay county line.
According to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, when first responders arrived on scene both the driver and passenger of the truck were out of the vehicle. The passenger had a severe cut on her arm and hand and was flown to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment
The driver, a 30-year-old from Mississippi, told deputies that they had been headed eastbound on S. R. 42 when a vehicle headed in the opposing direction began to drift into the oncoming lane. The driver reportedly tried to move over to give the vehicle space, which caused the flatbed trailer to go into the ditch causing the load to shift and the driver to lose control of the semi which then rolled over.
The crash left numerous large wooden planks scattered across the road.
Investigating deputies said drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash and no citations had been issued.
As of 9:45 a.m. Vigo County Central Dispatch confirmed the roadway was still shut down as crews continued to clean up the scene. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.

That’s according to Vigo County Central Dispatch, who confirmed the severe crash occurred along S.R. 42 at the Vigo and Clay county line.
The overturned truck had been hauling planks of lumber which were left scattered across the street causing crews to close the road to traffic.
Driver’s are asked to avoid the area as crews begin to investigate and clean up the scene.
According to Seelyville Fire Department Deputy Chief John Hendrix, two people were in the truck at the time of the crash. The passenger was taken to Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries. Hendrix didn’t speculate as to the severity of the injuries involved. The driver was noted to be ok.
