TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Terre Haute Police Officer, Brittany Coffman, was placed on administrative leave back in June, she’s now under an unpaid suspension.
Coffman was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Drug tests showed the presence of Xanax in her system.
Friday morning the THPD Merit Board held a special meeting.
“We had a special meeting with the Merit Board where the purpose of the meeting was to determine the status of an officer, in this case, would be a suspension without pay moving forward pending any further proceedings related to recommendations that I made that the employee be terminated. A hearing for termination,” said THPD Chief Keen.
Keen also said that his recommendation for termination is based on violations of department policy, and not necessarily tied to any criminal case.
An agreement on a date for the termination hearing was reached between Officer Coffman’s attorney and the city attorney. The hearing is scheduled to take place on or before December 18.
