CARLISLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Wabash Valley Correctional Facility officer was arrested Sunday for allegations of trafficking tobacco with an inmate.
James DiGiacomo, 59, is facing the Class A trafficking misdemeanor charge as well as a Level 6 Official Misconduct felony charge.
DiGiacomo’s arrest was the result of an Office of Investigations and Intelligence investigation, during which a large bag of tobacco was found in his possession.
DiGiacomo was transported to the Sullivan County Jail and the process to place him on suspension without pay will take place later this week.
The Sullivan County Prosecutor’s Office will provide a complete report for review at a later date.
DiGiacomo has been employed at the WVCF since Dec. 2014.
