CLINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — With hot temperatures, and even hotter heat indices expected to hit the area Friday, officials with the Vermillion County Emergency Management System have announced a cooling center coming to the city of Clinton.
Meteorologists are calling for temperatures in the area to reach a high of 93° Thursday, and 99° on Friday. But of course, the actual temperature only tells part of the story, for residents who will be outside, the heat index is the more concerning number. WTWO Meteorologist Julie Henricks said during her Thursday morning forecast that the heat index values will reach as high as 110° Thursday, and 107° Friday.
In a news release, Vermillion County EMA said that the Clinton Community Center will be opened as a cooling center Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Anyone in need of a place to get out of the sun, cool down from the heat, and rest is welcome.
The Clinton Community Center is located at 301 S. Main Street. For questions or concerns, contact the Vermillion County EMA at 765-832-5500.
