MONTGOMERY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The new Superintendent of Barr-Reeve Community Schools is outlining her goals for the upcoming school year.
Andrea Huff was named the new Superintendent of the school corporation on July 1.
She said she has always wanted to pursue a career in education and eventually got her Administrators License to take it to the next level.
“And then I had the opportunity to serve in that capacity as well as an assistant principal, K-12 Curriculum Director, I’ve been a high school principal as well. And then I had the opportunity to transfer into a district-level administrative position here at Barr-Reeve,” Huff said.
Huff said her goals for the upcoming school year include continuing down a path of excellence and making decisions surrounding the best interest of the students.
“The second part is some of the work we’ve already started, is where we’re going as far as career readiness aspect and having Viking career readiness at the forefront of the work that we’re doing,” Huff said.
Last school year, Barr-Reeve hit record enrollment numbers and Huff said the school corporation is always looking at ways they can expand.
“Our facilities are at full capacity and we do make good use of every space that we have. We try to make a lot of our spaces multi-functional and even between our athletics and our academics, how do we share spaces,” Huff said.
Huff is taking the spot of Dr. Travis Madison, who was the Superintendent for 12 years.
Dr. Madison took another Superintendent opportunity at a different school corporation.
