Convention center plans have been put on hold by the Terre Haute City Council until a traffic study is complete.
City Engineer Chuck Ennis asked the council to table voting on an ordinance that would close 8th Street from Hulman Street to Maple Avenue in order to build the new convention center.
The Council agreed to table the vote until the traffic study is complete. It will be brought back to the table during the June 13 meeting.
Vacating a portion of North-South Public Alley located north of 8th Avenue and south of Plum Street was also withdrawn from Thursday night’s meeting.
Taylor Williams will have more on this story. Continue to check back with WTWO/WAWV on air and online for updates.
