VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vigo County Fairgrounds back at it again with one of their well-known and popular events.
It was the police and fire department demolition derby. The derby is a competition in which the cars are driven into each other until the last man standing. Departments involved were the Sheriff’s Department, THPD, Indiana State Police, and the Terre Haute Fire Department.
Jenny Hamilton said it’s a great way to let loose and have fun.
“It’s a lot of fun. It’s a lot of excitement. People, the crowd gets into it. The cars and the guys that are in the cars and ladies. They just have a lot of fun. It’s high adrenaline,” Hamilton said.
“We’re not out here to hurt anyone. We’re just out here to provide some entertainment for the public and let everyone know that we’re out here to serve them as well,” Sergeant Matt Ames said.
Friday night the Vigo County Fairgrounds will have micro wrestling at 7 pm.
