WABASH VALLEY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Thursday evening’s storms still leave tens of thousands of people in the Wabash Valley without power.
People in the Valley have many emotions about the power outage situation that is plaguing this area. Officials say that some places could remain without power for the rest of the week.
The feelings of Terre Haute resident, Marco Valdes, reflect a lot of those around the valley.
They are out of power, and they don’t like it.
“It has been very uncomfortable because the heat is a factor and is affecting a lot of people. Everyone is getting out of their houses, crazy, because their houses are hot,” he added.
In Sullivan, people are used to having to prepare for unpredictable weather and dealing with power outages. However, Christopher White, says that he is looking at the positives in these situations.
“It’s been hard for a lot of people, but it has been nice to see that most of the time when we have storms hit here a lot of people come together to help the emergency and medical assistants and everything here. It’s nice to know that people still get out and help when they need to,” said White.
In Terre Haute, people of all ages have been uniquely impacted by these storms.
There are still many Indiana State students living here over summer break trying to take classes.
ISU student, Luke Garcia, says this storm put a hindrance on his academic schedule.
“I was actually going to fly that day but me and my flight instructor looked at the weather previously and decided to cancel for that day because we knew the chance for thunderstorm was kind of there. I guess we made the right call though because around the time I was going to fly it came in,” he added.
WTWO plans to keep all Wabash Valley residents updated with the latest information regarding the power outages.
