TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local organization is making its mark on Terre Haute by going to specific areas of the city to pick up litter from the roadways.
The Cleanup Commitee in the 12 Points neighborhood and Club Soda hosted a gathering today at the Grace Community Church Saturday to help pick up the litter in that area.
There was a good turnout of people that came with a helper’s mindset to try and help improve this area. These groups believe that events like this will always be beneficial to keeping these areas clean of litter.
Schelia Romanelly, the chairperson for the Cleanup Committee of 12 Points, believes that events like this are the key to getting the entire city involved.
“If we start here in 12 points as a group and we pick up litter, then it will continue to go on. Everyone else will see that this community and area is doing it. We can plan a cleanup in the next area. It is something that we just have to do. One community at a time,” said Romanelly.
