TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Thanks to the completion of the Next Level Trails grant, Griffin Bike Park is now complete and will be celebrating with a Freedom Feast event.
The Freedom Feast will take place on July 3 and will include speakers, a silent auction, and a dinner. The keynote speaker of the event is Sammie Lee Davis, the individual who inspired the character of Forest Gump, and Lieutenant Governor Susan Crouch will also be in attendance.

“It’s simply amazing how one family’s loss has turned into a state’s legacy,” said Gene Griffin, founder of Griffin Bike Park.
Griffin expressed that the initial vision for the park was to have around 20-30 miles. When the park was initially opened, there were about 16. With the additional 14 miles from the Next Level Trail grant, Griffin Bike Park was able to be completed.
“We’re celebrating the completion of the master plan of the entire park that was our dream from the beginning. There’s nothing like it in Indiana, period. We’re very proud of that,” Griffin said.
Griffin also expressed how the event is also a way to show appreciation to all the volunteers and sponsors that have made the park a reality.
