TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Local residents are invited to celebrate another St. Patrick’s Day at The Red Barn to help raise money for Riley Hospital’s P.S. We Love You Fund.
Attendees are welcome to come to The Red Barn on Friday, March 17th to wear green, enjoy live music by Matt Westerfield, and eat traditional Irish foods such as Irish stew, corned beef and cabbage, and Irish soda bread by Butler’s Pantry.
Riley’s P.S. We Love You Fund takes place on St. Patrick’s Day and originated as a way to honor Patrick Stephen Barrett, a Terre Haute native and Riley patient who battled cancer throughout his young life.
“We are once again excited to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, Patrick’s birthday, and raise money for an amazing hospital,” stated Greg Barrett.
The P.S. We Love You Fund works to raise money for precision genomics testing at Riley Hospital, which will allow for easier identification of certain cancerous tumors while also giving doctors a better idea of how to best treat a child who is battling cancer. Patrick Barrett was one of the first patients at Riley to participate in the program.
As March 17th is Patrick’s birthday, the tickets for this year’s event will cost $27 to celebrate Patrick’s would-be 27th year. All proceeds will go to the PS. We Love You funds at Riley Hospital.
The doors open at 5:30, food is served from 6:00-7:00, and the live music performance will be from 7:00-10:00 pm.
For those interested in attending, or getting involved, tickets can be purchased online here.
