TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Idle Creek Golf Course is primed to open a new, 4,500 sq. ft. facility that will be open to the public starting next week.
Rick Jenkins, who owns the golf course, said he wanted to offer something new in light of new developments coming around Terre Haute.
“We were looking at something we could do to compete with the other event centers that are here in town, with the casino coming, that we needed to offer something that wasn’t currently being offered to our residents and the people in the surrounding community, that they can come and participate,” he said.
Jenkins said development started back in April. In the time since, several changes have been made, mainly to make the facility viable year round.
“As we’ve gone along, we’ve changed it. Some of the ideas that we had and, as we visited other areas of the country, we decided to go ahead and enclose it, we weren’t going to put the doors on. It was just going to be a warm weather facility to start with,” he said.
Jenkins said he wasn’t sure what the final cost would be.
The building, tentatively named “The Garage,” is located next to “The Dawgleg” restaurant and will be open to the public starting Sep. 8th.
