TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Thursday people gathered outside of the Terre Haute Police Department Headquarters to pay tribute to our nation’s fallen officers.
The “Beyond the Call of Duty – End of Watch Ride to Remember” traveled all the way from Spokane, Washington.
The mobile display consists of a truck pulling a trailer printed with the names and photos of fallen police officers. Among those being remembered is Terre Haute Police Detective and FBI Task Force Officer Greg Ferency.
His sister, Shelley Klingerman, was in attendance Thursday and shared what this memorial event means to her.
“It’s heartbreaking how many faces we see on this trailer, but these types of efforts are so important to keep the memories of those officers alive for the sake of the families and the communities in which they served,” said Klingerman.
“Never forget these beautiful men and women,” Founder and Chairman of the End of Watch Ride to Remember Jagrut Shah said. “Talk about their lives as they lived it and not when they died or passed away. and to remind people that there’s a lot of love out here.”
This year the trailer is traveling through 43 states visiting a total of 268 departments to honor 608 men and women. More information regarding the effort can be found online here.
