PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A man who police say escaped on an ATV after providing a false name to police has now been arrested after an investigation from multiple law enforcement agencies.
According to the Parke County Sheriff’s Office, David Robert Denny, 32, of Kingman was stopped on an ATV on July 18 near County Road 1200 N. west of US 41 for not being properly registered. Deputies report that the man initially gave them a false name and was then able to successfully elude police after fleeing arrest.
Investigation revealed the man to be Denny, who had multiple warrants in Fountain County. Deputies searching for Denny in the following days found numerous campsites in the Howard area that Denny used, eventually finding Denny at one on July 27.
Denny has been charged in Parke County with resisting law enforcement, refusal to identify, criminal mischief, burglary and theft. Denny was wanted out of Fountain County on escape from home detention, resisting law enforcement, burglary, theft, and possession of methamphetamine.
Sheriff Justin Cole said the burglary and theft charges in Parke County were due to discovering that Denny had burglarized a hunting cabin along Melon Road during his time on the run. Many of the items stolen have since been recovered from the campsites.
The Fountain County Sheriff’s Office, Montezuma Police, Indiana State Police, and the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
