PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind (WTWO/WAWV) — Three Duke Energy workers were hit by a car after it struck their work truck in Putnam County Tuesday.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 9:50 a.m. on County Road 800 West. Cpl. Scott Ducker said witnesses to the event reported the car was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound as it came over the crest of a hill.
The car reportedly struck one of the outrigger legs on the truck closest to the hill, lost control and struck three workers who were positioned behind a second Duke Energy truck. The car went on to hit that truck and a third Duke Energy truck on the scene before coming to a stop.
The crash is under investigation.
Cpl. Ducker said the driver and one of the workers were taken by ambulance to a local hospital as a precautionary measure. The two other workers that were hit also went to the hospital to get checked out but were driven there privately.
