TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local animal shelter’s efforts to care for animals received a boost of support Friday thanks to a college campus fraternity.
From March 28 through April 1, the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity at Indiana State University hosted a fundraiser called Dog Days. The effort benefits the Terre Haute Humane Society.
Organizers say the program usually raises around $2,500, but this year with events on campus and help from the community they surpassed that amount by a large margin, raising over $4,700.
I knew I had reached out to good local businesses and I knew that they would be wanting to donate and I rallied the brothers in our fraternity and I got them all excited so it was a pretty good turnout.

They also collected items commonly needed by the shelter for donation.
“I think philanthropy is one of the main ways we are able to give back to the community that gives so much to us,” said Limcaco. “So every year we try to do as much as we can and I think this is one of the main ways that we try to show how thankful we are for the Terre Haute community.”
