DAVIESS Co., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — North Daviess Junior Senior High School students may notice some changes when they come back in August.
‘We’ve got some electrical work, running wire to eleven panels throughout the building. We’re putting in a cold water main and about two hundred feet of that.
The biggest project in the gym came earlier than expected.
“The gym floor project was something we’d been talking about doing…Maybe next year or the following year. But this year during our grand march at prom they had a water fountain on the floor. They found out it was leaking, so they drained it. But they forgot to look under the tarp and it leaked on the floor.
Bob bell- it was going to cost about fifty-thousand dollars to repair the floor. So we went ahead and pulled the plug…And now we’re getting a new gym floor this summer.
On the other side of the school, an old feature is being taken away.
“We just got permission from the board to close the pool. It’s not been open for over the past year. We’re going to have to get the architects involved. We’re looking at demoing all the pool and all the equipment.
With all the changes coming to the school, faculty believe it will be great for the learning environment.
“The fact that we’re making it better, more efficient and just an overall climate improvement is going to pay off dividends in the future,” said Jodi Berry, director of instruction and technology.
