TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Wabash Valley Crew hosted its first ever Corporate Rowing Challenge at the Vigo County YMCA on Saturday.
Representatives of local corporations and local celebrities took to the rowing machines in the YMCA gymnasium.
All the funds raised will go towards the effort to build a boathouse in Fairbanks Park.
The Wabash Valley Community Foundation will match up to $150,000 towards the funds needed for the boathouse.
Wabash Valley Crew President James Owen said that a boathouse would be beneficial for the group to give them a homebase to potential host competitions.
Owen added that the boathouse could also benefit all of the community.
“We want to build a boathouse for our community,” Owen said. “We’d like to have a boathouse in which we can do all those additional functions.”
The Wabash Valley Crew has been operating for six years.
