A crew from Duke Energy did a Live Line Demonstration at the Terre Haute Street Department Building on Deming Street Wednesday afternoon.
“We do this for city departments, elementary schools, basically anybody that doesn’t know line work like we do,” said Cole Eveland, a supervisor with Duke Energy.
The demonstration included special props such as hot dogs, tree branches, ropes, and a balloon.
“Everything with our demonstration here is related to what really happens in the field,” Eveland said.
City and County workers said the demonstration was very helpful to them.
It also touched on important tips that could be communicated to the general public if they encounter live power lines or downed poles.
“Don’t take a chance. That’s what we’re here for. Let the professionals come out and verify that it is safe. We’d rather save a life than go to a funeral,” Eveland said.
According to Duke Energy, they hold these demonstrations as needed with First Responders, city departments, and elementary schools.
