MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Two people were arrested early Tuesday morning following a high-speed chase that began in Owen County.
According to the Owen County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop in the area of SR 42 and Almond Road around 11:30 pm.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and led deputies on a high speed pursuit through the north and northeast parts of the county before wrecking the vehicle and being forced to stop. the chase came to an end in the area of Big Hurricane and Duckworth Roads in Morgan County.
The driver was identified as Richard Romandine, 42, of Poland. Romandine had active warrants for his arrest and was taken into custody for preliminary charges of:
- Criminal Confinement
- Criminal Recklessness
- Driving While Suspended Prior
- Resisting Law Enforcement With a Vehicle
- Outstanding Warrants
The front passenger, Donovan Jackson, 47, also of Poland was arrested by Putnam County Deputies for outstanding warrants out of Putnam County.
An additional passenger reported to deputies that she pleaded with the driver to let her out of the vehicle, but he refused. She was released from the scene. Assisting agencies included Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and the Cloverdale Police Dept.
