KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Tennessee woman was arrested in Knox County Friday after Indiana State Police said she was driving impaired and speeding excessively. If that wasn’t enough, authorities also learned the vehicle she was driving had been reported stolen.
Peggy Gallegos, 41, of Lenoir City, Tenn., was stopped by an ISP trooper who clocked her driving a vehicle north on US 41 going 107 mph. The trooper said Gallegos “displayed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests.”
Further investigation revealed Gallegos was under the influence of amphetamines and the vehicle she was driving had been reported stolen out of Tennessee.
Gallegos was arrested and taken to the Knox County Jail where she is currently being held pending the posting of bond. She faces charges of theft, operating while intoxicated and reckless driving.
