PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Indiana State Police troopers arrested a man during a traffic stop Friday morning on Interstate 70 in Putnam County after a search revealed around 12 pounds of fentanyl in his vehicle.
A trooper said they saw a Ford Taurus near mile marker 42 on I-70 around 11:45 a.m. Friday that was tailgating another vehicle and had improper brake lights. After pulling the car over, police identified the driver as 40-year-old Polo Huereca-Rivera of Oklahoma City, Okla.
During the stop, police allegedly saw criminal indicators from Huereca-Rivera and asked to search his vehicle. After he consented, police say they found approximately 12 pounds of fentanyl in the car, which has an estimated street value of around $250,000.
Huereca-Rivera was arrested by the troopers and taken to Putnam County Jail. He now faces charges of dealing a narcotic drug, a level 2 felony, and possession of a narcotic drug, a level 3 felony.
