TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A historic B-29 bomber will be available for viewing at Hoosier Aviation.
The plane nicknamed ‘Doc’ is a WWII bomber that help seal victory for the Allied Forces in Japan. At the time, the size of the four engines allowed these aircrafts to be an important factor in WWII.
There are only two B-29 Superfortresses still flying today.
The B-29 Restored Tour will make its second stop in Terre Haute this evening.
“We have a passion for war birds, but especially these aircrafts. The way that they stay flying is to do tours like one,” says Nicole Brown, owner of Hoosier Aviation.
This is the second of seven stops that the B-29 will make across the country.
“There are a lot of folks that we have heard say that they do not know that there is an airport here so when we get to bring these kinds of excited things, it makes us super happy,” says Brown.
Visitors will have the opportunity for flight rides on Tuesday and Wednesday at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. followed by grounded cockpit tours from noon to 4 p.m.
