COOS BAY, Oreg. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Michigan man reportedly involved in a car collision on US-41 that left one woman trapped in her car and hospitalized was arrested Wednesday by officers in Coos Bay, Oreg.
Michael Waters, a 33-year-old man from Cadillac, Mich., was allegedly passing a stopped vehicle on US 41 near CR900 South when his truck hit another car head-on. Harmony Crowder, 45, of Rockville, Ind., was left trapped inside her hit vehicle and had to be extricated by EMS.
Waters was hospitalized after the collision for internal injuries and later released. An arrest warrant was issued for Waters as he faced felony charges of “causing catastrophic injury” while driving a vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance and other drug-related charges.
After being located by the Coos Bay Sheriff’s Department, Waters was arrested and transported to Parke County Jail where he was booked late Wednesday night. He is being held on no bond.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Waters is expected to be arraigned and formally charged with causing catastrophic injury while driving under the influence of a schedule I or II controlled substance sometime this week.
Randie Bowen, the passenger in Waters’ car during the collision, has an outstanding warrant and is still at large. Bowen is facing charges of methamphetamine and paraphernalia possession as well as false informing.
