TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A mother from Brazil had to experience childbirth under what she says were extremely stressful circumstances.
The day before she was set to be induced last week, Ali Marcotte’s water broke while she was home just three hours after leaving the hospital. When she couldn’t reach her husband who was at work, she called 911.
Paramedics arrived quickly; however, when they were less than a minute away from Union Hospital they were railroaded by a train.
Marcotte’s daughter didn’t want to wait, so the baby was delivered inside the ambulance.
“It was quick. It didn’t take long for her to come at all and its like 25 to 30 minute drive from my house to the hospital,” said Marcotte. “If my husband had taken me, we would’ve probably had to deliver on the side of the road.”
Marcotte says it only took an hour from when her water broke for her to deliver her baby girl.
