BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Indiana State Police Public have given an all-clear directive after the Walmart at 2150 E National Ave. in Brazil had been evacuated at 8:10 p.m. Thursday, as Information Officer Matt Ames had previously reported. Clay County authorities also confirmed the evacuation.
The store is now closed for the evening.
The Brazil Police Department issued a statement Thursday night that read:
“At 8:02 p.m. the Brazil Police Department responded to a report of a bomb/active-violence threat that was called into the Wal-Mart. Emergency Personnel arrived quickly and was able to evacuate the store in a short time for safety. The store was later checked by responding law enforcement officers including deputies of the Clay County Sheriff’s Department and troopers with the Indiana State Police where it was determined that no threat was imminent at that time. Further steps were taken by the store to ensure safety and closed for the remainder of the business day.
“The investigation is being led by the Brazil Police Department but (if) you have any information regarding the incident pleased contact any of the agencies involved.”
