TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Multiple fire departments responded to a mobile home fire Tuesday morning in Terre Haute.
Seelyville Fire Department received the call of a fire at 8725 Wabash Avenue. Otter Creek, Riley and Terre Haute City firefighters were called in to assist.
One person was home when the fire started, but was able to get out, according to Otter Creek FD public information officer Taylor Hardy.
Firefighters faced additional dangers when an explosion went off. Hardy said the explosion was likely caused by ammunition inside the residence. No firefighters were injured.
Nearby mobile homes received damage due to the excessive heat from the fire.
The fire was deemed under control by 11 a.m., according to Hardy.
No cause of the initial fire has been determined at this time.
