TERRE HAUTE., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Miracle on 7th street continued Saturday, with a collection for donations for local food pantries and soup kitchens.
There were bins in front of the community tree on Wabash Avenue, at the Meadows parking lot. and at the Vigo County Public Library. At that location, Six bins of food were donated on Saturday alone.
There was also a window decorating contest and visits with Santa.
However, the annual parade was cancelled.
Although COVID-19 has caused many changes, organizers said they wouldn’t let it stop them.
“It’s nice to make sure we are not just skipping over this year. It’s not just another thing added to the list of things are cancelled you know. I think it is important and really miracle on 7th street this is the core what it’s about. It’s about giving back to the community. So it’s really important was still able to do this,” said Sarah Trover, a committee member for Miracle on 7th Street.
Donations will be divided between the 14th and Chestnut Community Center, Providence Food Pantry of West Terre Haute and Saint Benedict’s Soup Kitchen.
