TERRE HAUTE, Ind (WTWO/WAWV) — The Indiana Statehouse traveled to Terre Haute on Saturday for the second legislative Crackerbarrel session.
State Representatives Tonya Pfaff and Bruce Boarders along with Senator Jon Ford held a panel at the Vigo County Library.
The panel honored the league of women voters and the 100th anniversary.
Members of the group had opportunities to address their concerns. This includes gerrymandering maps. Gerrymandering are boundary maps to favor a certain political party.
“Gerrymandering has been going on since the 1800s. We’re long overdue to have them drawn fairly. Now that we have computers and technology … we do have the ability to feed the information based on just population and not political party,” League of Women Voters, Carolyn Callecod, said.
Today’s members said they want gerrymandering maps to be non-partisan.
