TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — First Hungarian Working Men’s Benefit and Death Society will be serving chili and hot dogs at a drive-through event on Saturday at the Hungarian Hall, 2049 N. 22nd St.
Motorists are to enter from N. 22nd St. and exit onto Linden. Serving will begin at 4 p.m. and last until 7 p.m. or until supplies run out.
Among the varieties of chili to be served is a two-time award-winning Hungarian chili, popular at past Altrusa Chili Cookoff events. A 16-ounce bowl goes for $5, with $2 hot dogs. Sample both as a chili dog for $3.
Also available at the drive-through event are whimsical, stuffed felt cat and dog figures (pictured above), handmade in Hungary by Eastern European artisans. They can be purchased as $10 kits or $15 finished figures, or $25 for a pair. Ethnic and Hungarian cookbooks will be available as well.
