TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)—Family members of those on death row gathered at the Vigo Co. Courthouse Saturday to speak out against the death penalty.
Area reform groups gave speeches sharing their stance against the death penalty.
Some demonstrators we spoke to said they traveled from as far as Texas.
They posted signs in front of the courthouse with sayings like, “Stop federal executions” and “Not in my name”.
The sister of a man on death row at the Terre Haute federal prison took part in the protest.
She said she wants to let those on death row know they still have a voice.
“I just want them to know that they have support. I want them to know we don’t support this and we won’t accept it. There’s people out here fighting for them.”
William Lecroy is scheduled to be executed Tuesday and Christopher Vialva is scheduled to be executed Thursday.
