TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – An event that raises money for breast cancer research will take on a new format this year due to the pandemic.
The More Than Pink Walk, formerly known as Race for the Cure, will happen virtually on October 10.
Susan G. Komen Central Indiana will be live on Facebook for events like the opening ceremonies.
Participants can then walk wherever they are and share photos with the hashtag #WalkWhereYouAre.
There’s also a More Than Pink app with extra features.
The goal this year is to raise $40,000 for breast cancer research.
“We still want people to walk with us. We still want people to fundraise for us. Our goal is by 2026, we reduce the amount of breast cancer deaths 50%. We’re not there yet, which is why we need to keep fundraising,” says Lori Mitchell, Community Manager.
There will also be a survivor drive-thru Parade of Hope on Saturday, September 26 in front of the Meadows from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
