SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The Wabash Valley Community Foundation’s affiliate in Sullivan County awarded a total of $140,830 in grant money to 11 non-profit organizations.
The eleven organizations that received this funding were:
- Sullivan County Park & Lake – $25,000 for dredging of Sullivan Lake
- Farmersburg Friends of the Park – $10,000 to complete the George Heap Memorial Park fencing, with the remaining balance being used for upgrades/amenities around the basketball and pickleball courts
- Merom Camp & Retreat – $15,000 for College Hall Renovation Phase 2
- Children’s Museum of Indianapolis – $21,500 for the Field Trip Endowment Fund that will allow Sullivan County schools to engage in no-cost admissions for field trips, as well as unlimited access to virtual activities that can be brought into the classrooms. The unlimited field trips and virtual access will commence in 2028 and continue indefinitely.
- Ruth House – $14,782 program support for women in recovery
- Ivy Tech Foundation – $10,000 to provide equitable access to mental wellness resources for Sullivan County students
- Northeast East – $1,000 to procure an entryway rug as part of their School Beautification Project
- Ouabache Land Conservancy – $5,000 to create a parking area for Sanctuary Oaks Nature Preserve
- Sullivan Fire Dept – $25,000 to purchase a Lucas Device (a chest compression system)
- Fairbanks Community Center – $7,000 for HVAC repairs – if there are unused funds after the HVAC repair is complete, that balance may be used for furnishings in the rooms available for rent
- Sullivan City Police – $6,548 police car radar replacement
This grant money was able to be awarded thanks to donations from 50 different funds.
